On November 19, 2013 VCAD held ONwards fashion show at the Croatian Cultural Centre on 3250 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC V5N. It was a sold out event, which proves only one thing – VCAD is one of the leading fashion design colleges in Canada.

Check out Vancouver’s up-and-coming fashion designers and their collections – Olivia Bing, Zoe Collins, Evan Ducharme, Tira Hummelle, Huong Le, Tennille Oppen, Joshua Shin, Shaunique Simpson, Olivia Stewart, Darius Tuliso and Ross Victoriano.

VCAD’s program gives structure to your creativity while providing hands-on training from industry professionals. Students gain an in-depth understanding about the tools and equipment used in the industry. Topics covered include garment, accessory and apparel design, fashion merchandising, fashion shows, and more.

By the end of the program, students will have created a strong portfolio with which to apply for fashion industry jobs such as stylists, junior designers, pattern makers, marketing representatives, or visual display coordinators and purchasers.

Emerging VCAD fashion designers were talking about their collections before the big show “ONWARD”. They shared their experience with the Fashion Design program, VCAD instructors and curriculum as well as inspiration behind their fashion collections, life experience and future goals.

Here is what one of the students said: “My instructors are always there for me and happy to answer my questions. My instructors are very experienced in the industry which helps a lot. The classrooms are small and personal, making it easier to ask questions from my instructor. My overall experience on campus is good. The staff is very helpful, especially in student services and financial services. Financial services helped me to understand my student loads a lot better. At VCAD I feel like I am learning a lot! My instructors push me and I obtaining many skills from them and the rest of the program.”

VCAD’s Interior Design program allows you to develop a skill set that compliments your creative vision so you can excel in interior design. The program introduces students to design principles, color theory, space planning, drafting and industry-standard software.

Here what the Interior Design student has to say about the college:
“The instructors are people who actually work in the field they teach. We have great computers, compared to a public school, and if you do not have your own computer it is okay because there is a computer lab available for use. Overall, the staff and other students are great. People seem to get along and are all working towards similar goals.”
